Sacred Sustenance: Food from the Quran & Sunnah

Food is more than nourishment for the body. In Islam, it can also nourish the soul. Food with barakah is from revelation to our table

Throughout the Qur’an, Allah mentions certain foods as signs of His mercy and provision — dates, olives, honey, grapes and more. In the Sunnah, we learn how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ate, what foods he loved, and how he encouraged simplicity, gratitude and balance. These foods are not only part of history; they are reminders of barakah in the everyday.

In this series, I will explore foods mentioned in the Qur’an and those loved by the Prophet ﷺ — their meanings, their benefits, and how we can bring them back to our tables today, because sometimes, the simplest meal can also be a form of remembrance.
