Day 2

My Ramadan Reflection 2026

Ramadan Kareem.

It is only Day 2 but as always, Ramadan carries a special energy. I feel privileged and deeply thankful that I am able to reconnect with the Holy Qur’an in this blessed month.

But why does it feel especially powerful during Ramadan?

I read my Qur’an every morning and night — yet during Ramadan, something shifts. Whilst fasting, our level of ibadah is heightened. Our hearts are softer, our focus sharper, and our grasp of the Qur’an feels elevated. Because of this, the impact is greater and the reward more abundant. Our desire to remain focused and disciplined pushes us to attain more than we would in other months.

All of this is a gift from Allah Ta‘ala. Every effort goes towards our register of good deeds — the Illiyyeen mentioned in Qur’an, in Surah Al-Mutaffifin (83). How can we neglect such an opportunity?
Look at Laylatul Qadr — the most powerful night of the year — placed within this very month. What a tremendous gift from Allah SWT. Ramadan seems to pass quicker each year; the fruit is ripe and ready for picking — we simply have to reach out and take it. May Allah grant us hidayah.

The Mercy of Allah SWT is boundless. When you read the Qur’an, you feel awakened and nourished. Think of the satisfaction after enjoying a wholesome, fulfilling meal — that feeling of contentment. Reading theQur’an nourishes the soul in a similar way. It leaves you spiritually full, comforted, and satisfied.
Dear Readers, if you have not yet read the Last Testament of Allah — the Noble Qur’an — I urge you to begin. You will become richer in every sense. Read with understanding, and you will find yourself returning to it again and again.

All 114 surahs are inspiring. Each time you read them, you discover something new. There is no boredom, no confusion in the Qur’an. Even where verses are repeated, there is immense wisdom and purpose behind it — something understood through deeper reflection. Many learned scholars have written detailed tafseer explaining this beauty.

Some surahs are named after prophets, yet only portions may directly refer to them — the overarching message remains one. For example, Surah Hud includes references to Prophet Nuh (AS), Prophet Musa (AS), Prophet Ibrahim (AS), Prophet Lut (AS), and Prophet Salih (AS). Yet the message is unified: the tests of Allah will come; the Day of Reckoning is real; accountability is certain. It was a message for then — and it remains a message for now.

Then there is the beautiful Surah Yusuf — revealed in narrative form. It is so moving and captivating that one cannot help but read it in a single sitting. The diversity in the style and structure of the Qur’an is truly mind-boggling — yet throughout, the truth remains clear and unwavering.
The Qur’an was revealed in Arabic, and while translations in English or other languages strive to capture its meaning, they can only approximate it. The message, however, remains unchanged and protected.

In Surah Al-A’raf (7:204), Allah says:

Some verses are poetic. Some are profound mysteries. Some bring you to tears at the realisation that these are the Words of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta‘ala.

Our Lord and Creator has not only given us guidance on how to live in this world, but also how to worship Him, how to make du‘a, and how to prepare for the next life. Where else can one find guidance so complete?
I could go on and on about how I feel — and perhaps I will pour out my emotions again in the coming weeks In shaa Allah.
May Allah Subahanallah grant us all the ability to complete our Qur’an and get the maximum benefit as possible but that being said, I must emphasise: reading the Qur’an is not about how many times or how quickly one completes it. Rather, it is about internalising its message — becoming God-conscious in all that we do, and continuously strengthening our imaan through knowledge, from cradle to grave.

May Allah keep us steadfast and return us to Him in a blessed and beautiful manner.

Aameen
